چکیده

The integration of distributed renewable energy sources and the multi-domain behaviours inside the cyberphysical energy system (smart grids) draws up major challenges. Their validation and roll out requires careful assessment, in term of modelling, simulation and testing. The traditional approach focusing on a particular object, actual hardware or a detailed model, while drastically simplifying the remainder of the system under test, is no longer sufficient. Real-time simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) techniques emerge as indispensable tools for validating the behaviour of renewable sources as well as their impact/interaction to with the cyber-physical energy system. This paper aims to provide an overview of the present status-quo of real-time and HIL approaches used for smart grids and their readiness for cyber-physical experiments. We investigate the current limitations of HIL techniques and point out necessary future developments. Subsequently, the paper highlights challenges that need specific attention as well as ongoing actions and further research directions.

Hardware in Loop of a Generalized Predictive Controller for a Micro Grid DC System of Renewable Energy Sources

In this paper, a hardware in the loop simulation (HIL) is presented. This application is purposed as the first step before a real implementation of a Generalized Predictive Control (GPC) on a micro-grid system located at the Military University Campus in Cajica, Colombia. The designed GPC, looks for keep the battery bank State of Charge (SOC) over the 70% and under the 90%, what ensures the bes...

Hierarchical Control Strategy of Heat and Power for Zero Energy Buildings including Hybrid Fuel Cell/Photovoltaic Power Sources and Plug-in Electric Vehicle

This paper presents a hierarchical control strategy for heat and electric power control of a building integrating hybrid renewable power sources including photovoltaic, fuel cell and battery energy storage with Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEV) in smart distribution systems. Because of the controllability of fuel cell power, this power sources plays the main role for providing heat and electric p...

Adaptive Setting of UFLS Relay Using Hourly Programming with Consideration of Renewable Energy Sources in Smart Grid

In the light of the emergence of smart grids, the functions associated with this type of grids in the blocks of the energy management system require the adoption of robust strategies in order to provide a higher level of control and protection. Under-frequency load shedding (UFLS) sheds load blocks when the frequency drop is below the threshold limit. In adaptive UFLS, in an advanced telecommun...

Real -Time Pricing Design Considering Uncertainty of Renewable Energy Resources and Thermal Loads in Smart Grids

In this paper, a novel real time pricing design is presented for Demand Response (DR) programs. A Load Serving Entity (LSE) is responsible to provide energy for flexible loads, inflexible loads and thermal loads. The LSE consider operation conditions of system and uncertainty of renewable energy resources and it designs a Real Time Price (RTP) demand response. The inflexible and thermal loads c...
